Govt provides Rp50 million to repair each damaged house

West Nusa Tenggara province was hit by a 6.4-magnitude quake on Sunday.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian government plans to provide a maximum of Rp50 million to every affected family in West Nusa Tenggara Province. The fund was allocated to repair the damage caused to their houses following Sunday's 6.4-magnitude quake.

"The government will provide a maximum of Rp50 million in assistance (to each of the families) to repair their damaged houses. The government will not give aid equal to the value of the damaged house," Chief of the Data and Information Center and Public Relations Services at the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Sutopo Purwo Nugroho stated in Jakarta on Monday.

The BNPB, along with the National Defense Forces (TNI), Indonesian Police (Polri), and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, is still collecting data on the number of damaged houses, he stated.
