WASHINGTON, DC — Are any area grocery stores be open on Dec. 25? Many stores in the Washington, D.C., region closed early on Christmas Eve and most are closed altogether on Christmas Day. But, there are a few shopping options to pick up the basics on Dec. 25.
Here are the hours for grocery stores that will be open on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, and Christmas Day, Dec. 24. Information is taken from their websites, social media and emails to Patch.
Some stores may vary:
- Wegmans Food Markets: Stores will close at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24; closed on Dec. 25; will reopen at 6 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26.
- Giant Foods: All stores will close at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Select stores will be open on Christmas Day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., check the local store's website. All pharmacies will be closed.
- Aldi: Christmas Eve: All stores will open with limited hours (use the store locator for hours at your location). Christmas Day: Closed
- Costco: Christmas Eve: Stores open at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. Christmas Day: Closed.
- Food Lion: All stores are open until 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas Day.
- Safeway: Hours: 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Day.
- Lidl: Christmas Eve hours: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; closed on Christmas Day.
- Weis Markets: All stores will close at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. All pharmacies in Maryland and Virginia will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve. All stores and pharmacies are closed on Christmas Day.
- Harris Teeter: All stores will close at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24, are closed on Christmas, and will re-open at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26.
- Whole Foods: Hours: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas Day; check your local store hours online.
- ShopRite Supermarkets: Hours vary; check your local store's Facebook page or call the store to check hours.
- CVS: Christmas Eve: Most stores open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Christmas Day: Most stores open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (excludes stores inside Target, which are closed). Pharmacy closed.
- Fresh Market: Christmas Eve: 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Christmas Day: Closed.
- Target: Christmas Eve: Stores open at 7 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. Christmas Day: Closed.
- Trader Joe's: Christmas Eve: All stores close at 6 p.m. Christmas Day: Closed.
- Walmart: Hours: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas Day.
- Shoppers: Hours: 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas Day.
- BJ's Wholesale Club: Christmas Eve: Open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed on Dec. 25.
- MOMs My Organic Market: Christmas Eve: Open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed on Dec. 25.
- Sam's Club: Stores close at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve; closed on Dec. 25.
- Dollar General: Christmas Eve: Open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Christmas Day: Closed.
